Adam Rudin was able to gain over 100 thousand subscribers with just one video. After a major setback, he is now creating original animations and collaborating with other content creators, with many ideas for the future. Write Owl hear's his story.

Adam Rudin, a new animator/graphic designer within the YouTube world, has amazingly grown his channel to over 100 thousand subscribers with just a single video. “I suppose I was just bored, and I wanted to flex my creative muscles and that was an opportunity to do so,” he said, “So yeah I guess it was just like a quarantine thing.”

Adam created his channel, called Bluproductions, simply as a way of breaking boredom during quarantine. Despite this, he still placed a lot of work into the creation of his videos. He hired voice actors and wrote entire scripts to make sure that it was one of the best.

But now he wants to focus on making original content. Since the last was a fan-made parody. “In a way, it didn’t feel earned and that’s why I want to kind of focus on original content,” he said, “because that’s what I want to be known for.”

If it weren’t for quarantine Adam wouldn’t be creating the videos he is today, instead, he would be applying for jobs and working. “I’m glad I took the leap and just went for it,” he said, “because it’s really injected some flavour into my daily schedule.”

Besides his YouTube channel, Adam is currently working as a freelance graphic designer. He tried looking for a full-time job after graduation, but unfortunately, the pandemic has had a major impact on the number of vacancies available. “I majored in psychology,” he said, slightly laughing at the lack of relation it has to his current work search now.

“I enjoyed psychology but sometimes I wished I had majored in something more art or design related,” he says, “But you know, it is what it is.”

Surprisingly, when Adam was creating his fan-made series he wasn’t as quick to show his family as one may think. “I tried to keep it hidden from my family at first,” he said, “I’m not sure why. I think when you know that everything you post and upload is going to be seen by your family It can cause intrusive thoughts.

“Like every time I work on something I’m thinking, oh my family is going to see this, so I have to watch what I say sometimes.

“But now that they know about it, I’m actually happy. Everyone’s been really supportive, and I appreciate that.”

Currently, Adam is planning many projects behind the scenes and has many new ideas for the future of his channel. “It’s difficult to do because I’m busy with other things,” he says, “and also I’m super lazy.”

Despite his recent success Adam still isn’t doing YouTube full-time, he sees his channel as a fun hobby instead. “I’ve never really considered the idea that I could be doing YouTube full-time,” he said, “it takes up so much time producing content that I don’t know if I would have the time in the day to do that.”

He admits he would use the time to provide more content for his viewers if he were able to do it full-time. “I admire people where YouTube is their full-time job, that’s awesome,” he said, “I can’t really see myself doing that personally.”

Adam faced many complications with his previous videos, but the thought of being able to create new content on his newfound platform gave him the motivation to continue. “There was definitely struggles especially with my last project,” he says, “I lost a lot of motivation after that happened, but I think what keeps pushing me forward was the idea of being able to collab with new creators.

“That was just really fulfilling for me, so I think that’s what has helped push me forward.”

Now Adam is collaborating with another content creator, Deric Jackman, in the making of a cartoon web series called ‘Mysteries of Krüger Mansion.’ The story was written by Deric and the character design and animations were created by Adam.

“Together we are collaborating on this really cool cartoon that will be hosted on my channel,” he says, “It’s basically like a mystery thriller type of show, we’re really excited for people to see it.”

Since the last production took a long time to finish a single episode, they have both decided to cut down the length of this series to just fifteen minutes. However, they still want it to feature a theme song like a TV series usually does. “We’d love to try and create a new song for it,” he said.

The influence for Adam's projects stems from cartoons he used to watch in his spare time. “I used to really love the show Adventure Time and Steven Universe,” He says, “I remember following all of the storyboard artists… I’m still inspired by people who work on cartoons and do that type of animation work.”

Adam’s YouTube channel, Bluproductions, skyrocketed after his fan-made video. It has given him a large platform to meet new people all over the world and he hopes his channel will continue to grow. “It really came out of nowhere,” he said, “I really hadn’t thought I’d be doing anything like this.”

For Adam, this journey has excelled his expectations, demotivated him and inspired him all at the same time. If it weren’t for quarantine, he wouldn’t possess the platform he has now or experiences these new open doors he created for himself. Adam is truly a hard-working graphic designer/animator with a bright future ahead of him.
