Cartoon Cat Horror Short Film: better than most studio produced works.

This fan-made short film was by a single YouTube animator and is still better than most studio-produced movies. It's official animating characters into real-world backgrounds is getting easier. Write Owl reports.

This creepy character created by Trevor Henderson, a Canadian horror artist, has taken the internet by storm. He was the same visual artist who created the well-known character Siren Head, which sparked many fan-made games back in 2018.

Now his fans are extremely gobsmacked by his latest creation which he calls Cartoon Cat. A cartoon cat-like creature with a gruesome smile and uncanny bloodshot eyes. It torments humans in a ‘friendly’ cat and mouse game before devouring them.

I know what you’re thinking this would make an amazing concept for a film and that’s exactly what Shutter Authority thought. He decided to create a horror short film surrounded by the essence of Cartoon cat. It showcases the behavioural patterns the creature may possess if it were a living being.

You could tell Authority was a true fan of Trevor Henderson’s work since he made sure to capture the cheeky essence of torment Cartoon Cat does when chasing its meal.

He made sure to place the short film in the genre of a Horror comedy. This helped to represent the quirky parts of Cartoon Cats personality whilst still maintaining his scary nature.

The Cartoon Cat short film by Shutter Authority only possess two characters, Cartoon Cat, and the criminal. Despite both characters having only around 7 lines between the both of them, the entire story is far more engaging than most of these million-pound budget movies we see today.

It follows a criminal who had just robbed a facility which is unknown and quite frankly irrelevant to the viewers. He stumbles upon an abandoned house in hopes of escaping the police, only to cross paths with the iconic Cartoon cat himself. I’m sure you can tell where this is about to go now.

Despite the short film being made by just a single man, the animation and the sound quality is some of the best I’ve seen. He makes use of the sound effects and forces them to play within a specific section of your headphones, truly sucking you into the film.

Not to mention the design of Cartoon Cat and how it matches Henderson’s depictions to the T. Usually cheap CGI can be noticed from a mile away, but when it comes to the motion of the characters and simple special effects such as fire or the ground-breaking, it looks incredibly natural.

The special effects within the short film are so perfectly rendered it was as if everything belongs within the world. The animation will not pull out of the story if, anything it will pull you in further.

Whilst watching this short film I truly believed I was witnessing a demonic entity torment and play deadly games with its meal. It made sure to frighten and humiliate the robber, always allowing him to run but never truly escape his grasp.

One thing is for sure this short film is definitely worth the watch. It’s shorter than 10mins and showcases the raw unique talent of just a single man.
